Mini-Rant: Apple's New Lightning Connector

I'm seeing a lot of complaints on tech blogs about Apple's new Lightning connector. Seriously, just stop.

This is not the first time Apple has done something like this, and it's worked out fine before. Remember when Apple started making computers without CD drives? First, it was the MacBook Air. Then, the change moved to the Mac Mini and the MacBook Pro. Sure, people complained at first, but nobody is bothered by it now. It has become the new normal. In the same way, the Lightning connector is going to become the new normal.

You're complaining now, but in a couple years you will look back and laugh. The Lightning connector will be the new iconic connector for all of Apple's iDevices. We're in an awkward transition phase now, but we'll get through it and everything is going to be okay. I, for one, don't see the problem. New iPod docks with the Lightning connector will be coming out in the near future. All of the devices that have the Lightning connector come with a cable, you can use that for charging and syncing. The only complaint I somewhat understand is "my BMW with an integrated iPod dock won't work with my phone now," but come on. If it's that much of a problem, Mr. BMW Owner, go buy an iPod that has the 30-pin connector (assuming you don't own one already). Nobody says your iPhone must be your only music listening device. I own multiple iDevices and they all get equal amounts of use. If you can afford to buy a bunch of Apple products, you can afford to replace a dock and a couple of chargers.

I seriously don't understand all the complaints. Get over it, tech bloggers. It's not that much of a problem. Are we just searching for a reason to pick on Apple or something? Grow up.
